Role: VP Operations 

Experience Range:  10-12 years   

  • Qualification: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in facilities management, Project Management, Business Administration, engineering, or a related field.

About the role: 

The Vice President (VP) of Operations is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of an organization’s facilities, infrastructure, and maintenance operations. The specific duties and responsibilities may vary depending on the organization’s size, industry, and structure, but generally include the following:  

Key Deliverables : 

Strategic Planning:  

Develop and implement a strategic plan for facilities and maintenance that aligns with the overall goals and objectives of the organization.  

Evaluate and forecast the organization’s facilities and maintenance needs, considering factors such as growth, technology advancements, and regulatory changes.  

Project Leadership:  

Oversee and manage a portfolio of projects from initiation to completion.  

Provide leadership and guidance to project managers and teams, ensuring successful project delivery.  

Resource Management:  

Allocate and manage resources efficiently to ensure the successful execution of projects.  

Optimize resource utilization and identify areas for improvement in project delivery processes.  

Team Leadership:  

Lead and manage a team of facilities and maintenance professionals, including facility managers, maintenance supervisors, technicians, and support staff.  

Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting teamwork, professional development, and continuous improvement.  

Budget Management:  

Develop and manage the budget for the facilities and maintenance department.  

Monitor expenses, control costs, and identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising safety or functionality.  

Facility Management:  

Oversee the design, construction, renovation, and maintenance of facilities, ensuring they meet safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.  

Collaborate with architects, contractors, and other stakeholders in facility planning and development.  

Maintenance Operations:  

Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to ensure the efficient operation of equipment and facilities.  

Coordinate and schedule routine maintenance, repairs, and inspections to minimize downtime and disruptions.  

Compliance and Safety:  

Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to facilities and maintenance.  

Implement and enforce safety protocols and procedures to create a secure and healthy working environment.  

Vendor and Contract Management:  

Negotiate and manage contracts with external vendors, suppliers, and service providers.  

Evaluate vendor performance and ensure that services provided meet quality and cost standards.  

Technology Integration:  

Stay abreast of technological advancements in facilities management and maintenance.  

Implement and leverage technology solutions to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in facilities operations.  

Emergency Preparedness:  

Develop and implement emergency response and contingency plans to address unforeseen events or disasters that may affect facilities.  

    .      Stakeholder Communication:  

Communicate regularly with senior leadership, department heads, and other stakeholders to provide updates on facilities and maintenance activities.  

Address concerns, provide recommendations, and contribute to strategic discussions.  

The VP of Operation plays a crucial role in ensuring that an organization’s physical infrastructure supports its overall mission and objectives while maintaining a safe and efficient working environment.
