Role Overview
The Market Research Specialist will be responsible for gathering, analyzing, and interpreting data on competitors, customers, and industry trends to provide actionable insights. This is a multi-faceted role requiring a mix of research, analytics, intelligence gathering, and reporting.
The ideal candidate will have experience in market research firms or in-house research teams at organizations where data-driven decision-making is a priority.
Key Responsibilities
- Competitive Intelligence & Benchmarking
a. Conduct in-depth competitive analysis of key players in the coworking & managed office space industry.
b. Develop a competitive intelligence dashboard to track industry movements.
c. Study competitor pricing models, marketing strategies, expansion plans, product offerings, and customer experience.
d. Identify new market entrants, potential disruptors, and business threats.
e. Benchmark BHIVE against industry leaders and identify gaps & opportunities. - Industry & Market Research
a. Track market demand, industry trends, and customer preferences to inform business strategy.
b. Conduct industry benchmarking against global and Indian best practices.
c. Identify growth opportunities, potential market expansion locations, and industry shifts.
d. Analyze economic factors, policy changes, and real estate trends that impact the business. - Customer & Consumer Insights
a. Conduct customer research through surveys, interviews, and focus groups.
b. Analyze customer behavior, decision-making patterns, and unmet needs. - Mystery Shopping & Competitive Audits
a. Conduct mystery shopping visits to competitor coworking spaces to evaluate:
i. Customer experience & onboarding process
ii. Sales & tour experience
iii. Pricing structures & offers
iv. Service quality & workspace amenities
v. Community engagement and member benefits
vi. Use findings from mystery shopping to enhance BHIVE’s service standards. - Data Analytics & Reporting
a. Develop structured research reports, dashboards, and presentations for leadership.
b. Use Excel, SQL, Power BI, Tableau, or Google Data Studio to visualize key insights.
c. Provide periodic industry reports, competitor analysis, and predictive trends.
d. Use data analytics to forecast occupancy rates, pricing trends, and demand shifts. - Secondary & Primary Research
a. Gather and synthesize secondary research from industry reports, whitepapers, and government data.
b. Conduct primary research through expert consultations and direct industry interactions
c. Utilize public data sources (e.g., CBRE, JLL, Knight Frank, Statista, IBEF) for industry insights. - Strategic Support to Leadership
a. Work closely with Sales, Marketing, Product, and other teams to align research with business goals.
b. Provide market intelligence for pricing strategies, business expansion, and product innovation.
c. Identify potential M&A or partnership opportunities based on market insights.
Qualifications & Skills
- 5+ years experience in Market Research, Business Intelligence, or Competitive Benchmarking.
- Experience conducting Mystery Shopping & Competitive Audits.
- Strong expertise in qualitative & quantitative research methodologies.
- Proficiency in data interpretation, statistics, and predictive analytics.
- Hands-on experience with research tools & databases like Gartner, CB Insights, Euromonitor, IBISWorld, and Statista.
- Proficiency in Excel, SQL, Power BI, Tableau, or Google Data Studio for visualization.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to convert insights into business strategies.
Preferred:
- Prior experience in a market research firm (e.g., Nielsen, Kantar, Ipsos, Frost & Sullivan, or similar).
- Background in commercial real estate, coworking, or workspace industry research.
- Exposure to AI-driven market intelligence tools.
- MBA or Postgraduate Degree in Business, Marketing, or Data Analytics.
