A Plumbing Designer is responsible for designing, planning, and coordinating plumbing systems in building projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare plumbing layouts for water supply, drainage, and stormwater systems
- Design and size piping networks, pumps, tanks, and fixtures
- Perform calculations for water demand, pressure, and flow rates
- Develop detailed drawings, schematics, and BOQs
- Coordinate with architectural, structural, and other MEP disciplines
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes and project specifications
- Review shop drawings and assist during construction stages
- Support site teams with technical clarifications
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering, or a related field
- 2–8 years of experience in plumbing and fire protection design (depending on role level)
- Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit MEP, or other BIM tools
- Knowledge of plumbing codes and standards (local codes, IPC, NBC, etc.)
- Understanding of water supply, drainage, sewage, stormwater, and fire-fighting systems
- Ability to perform hydraulic calculations and pipe sizing
- Familiarity with coordination in MEP services
- Good communication and teamwork skills
