Role: Assistant General Manager – Facilities and Maintenance

Experience Range: 8 – 10 years of experience in facility management, maintenance or a related field, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role. 

Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Business Administration or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.

Role Summary : 

The Assistant General Manager – Facilities and Maintenance will play a critical role in overseeing the efficient operation and maintenance of our facilities. Reporting directly to the General Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for managing a team of maintenance technicians and ensuring the upkeep of all physical assets, including buildings, equipment, and grounds. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership abilities, technical expertise, and a commitment to excellence in facility management.

Key Deliverables :

  • Collaborate with the General Manager to develop and implement strategic plans for facility management and maintenance.
  • Manage day-to-day operations of the maintenance department, including scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
  • Supervise a team of maintenance technicians, providing guidance, support, and training as needed.
  • Conduct regular inspections of facilities to identify maintenance needs, safety hazards, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Oversee preventative maintenance programs to ensure the longevity and reliability of equipment and systems.
  • Coordinate with external contractors and vendors for specialized maintenance services and repairs.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and industry standards related to facility management and maintenance.
  • Develop and maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment inventory, and expenditures.
  • Monitor energy usage and implement initiatives to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Foster a culture of safety among maintenance staff, promoting adherence to established safety protocols and best practices.

Key Competencies :

  • Strong technical knowledge of building systems, HVAC, electrical, plumbing and other relevant trades.
  • Proven leadership abilities, with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team of maintenance professionals.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with employees at all levels of the organization, as well as external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions in high-pressure situations.
  • Proficiency in computerized maintenance management systems and other relevant software applications.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Flexibility to work outside of regular business hours as needed, including evenings, weekends and holidays.
